Instructions for Applying for FREE Iowa Masonic License Plate

Thank you for your interest in promoting the greatest Fraternity on the face of the earth.  I'm so happy you found this page!  As mentioned at the Grand Master's Area Meetings, we will be giving away Free Iowa Masonic License Plates to the first 50 applicants that include a special password with their application and check.  Somewhere on this page will be a special password that will need to be attached to your application(s) in some manner.  Please DO NOT write this word on the application itself, as we do not want to confuse the Iowa D.O.T.  Below are specific instructions and frequently asked questions. Instructions For Submitting Application

  1. Download the form from this site (click here to download form).
  2. Complete the form.
  3. Make out a check for $25 payable to the Grand Lodge of Iowa A.F. & A.M.
  4. Write this password RYNO on a separate piece of paper (sticky note, etc.).
  5. Attach the check and piece of paper containing the password to the application.
  6. Mail all three items (application, CUBS note and check) to:  Grand Lodge of Iowa, License Plate Progtram, PO Box 683, Oakland, IA  51560-0683

Frequently Asked Questions

  • If I have already submitted an application, is it eligible for this "First 50"?
  •      No.  You are to be congratulated and thanked for your foresight in already submitting an application, but the main goal behind this promotion is to generate enough interest to get enough applications submitted (500 total) so that the Iowa Department of Transportation will print the plates.  If we don't reach 500, the project is dead and no one will get a Masonic License Plate.
  • If I have previously submitted an application and have more than one licensed vehicle, can I submit those additional forms and be eligible for the "First 50"?
  •      Absolutely!
  • Why do I have to make out the check to the Grand Lodge of Iowa instead of to the Iowa D.O.T.?
  •      Because, if for some reason we don't reach our goal of 500 applications, the Grand Lodge will return your money.  The Iowa D.O.T. will not.
  • Will the Grand Lodge hold my check or cash it?
  •      The Grand Lodge will cash your check, but will keep accurate records so that your application fee can be returned to you if the program does not succeed.
  • Will applications without the special password be honored?
  •      All applications that are properly completed and accompanied by the appropriate fee will be honored.  However, if the password is missing or incorrect, it will not be eligible for the "First 50" program.
  • If the first 50 applications are free, why do I need to include a check?
  •      Because, in the event your application is not one of the first 50, you would be unable to receive your plate without payment.
  • I want to get a personalized plate in addition to the Masonic emblem.  If my application is one of the first 50, does it include the personalization fee?
  •      No.  The "First 50" program only pays for the basic fee.
  • Do I have to pay for the renewal fees?
  •      Yes.  The Grand Lodge is only paying for the first-year, basic fee for the first 50 received.
